Strawberry DNA extraction with 7th grade

The 7th grade mashed some strawberries and extracted DNA.

Strawberry juice was mixed with salt water soap. The mixture was strained into a clean cup. Ice cold isopropyl alcohol was carefully added to the mixture to separate the DNA from the other substances in the mixture. 

The white string-like substance is DNA. 

The girls collected the DNA from the mixture.

8th Grade Oreo Moons

The 8th graders were learning about the phases of the moon.

With Oreos, they made their own moons.
